RCC Patio with Stone Finish

Where a patio has to span, cantilever or sit above occupied space, an RCC deck finished in natural stone gives you the structural capacity of concrete with a surface that belongs to the rest of the building.

Waterproofing is the whole job

An elevated patio sits over something you care about keeping dry. The waterproofing layer is applied to a properly prepared and filleted deck, turned up at every upstand well above the finished stone level, and flood-tested before a single slab goes down. Testing before finishing is not optional, finding a leak after the stone is laid means taking the stone up.

Falls built into the slab

The fall is formed in the structural slab or in the screed above the waterproofing, never by tilting the stone itself. Water is taken to outlets sized for monsoon intensity rather than average rainfall, and we provide overflow provision so a blocked outlet does not turn the terrace into a tank.

Movement and the stone layer

Concrete and stone move differently, and a terrace in full sun moves a lot. Movement joints are carried through from the structure into the stone finish and filled with a flexible sealant rather than being bridged with rigid mortar, which is the usual cause of tented, cracked or drummy paving on terraces a few summers old.
